The very beginnings of current company Alpetour, forwarding and transport, PLC go back to the year 1947, when two automobile companies were established: automobile company Škofja Loka on 17.7.1947 and City trucking firm Kranj on 9. 12.1947. Both companies were operating within the framework of city companies for the needs of Škofja Loka and Kranj at that time.

Establishment of company Transturis

The merged firm Transturist was established in 1954. This company was mostly engaged in carriage of goods and passenger transport with seven trucks and six buses. For an initial period there were also only a few people employed in Kranj with a smaller number of trucks and buses. The company Avtopromet was renamed to Tourism traffic company Creina Kranj in 1968.

Basic organisation of associated labour Freight transport

Basic organisation Freight transport was established in 1974, which was one of the members of associated labour organisation. The main activitys of this basic organisation was carriage of goods within domestic and international traffic, carried out with 140 trucks and 199 employed people. In the same year a merger took place with the associated labour organisation Transturist with the labour organisation Creina Kranj into a combined organisation of associated labour Alpetour, which was reflected in the new organisational structure of the company in question. Namely, it was included into the newly-formed labour organisation Transturist-Freight transport.

Transformation from basic organisation of associated labour

In this form the company operated until 1990, when it was transformed from the basic organisation of associated labour into a social corporate company with a full name Alpetour – Company for international and domestic transport, p.o., Škofja Loka.

This was one of first individual ways of doing business without obligations for mutual fund integration. This important milestone lived to see the company with 200 cargo vehicles and 315 employed workers. The company was forced to adjust to major business difficulties that were caused by break-up of Yugoslavia with a new internal organisation, with reduction of transport units, with reducing the number of employees and also by diversification of activities into forwarding and trade activity.  Ever since 1991 the company in engaged in forwarding activity and to a lesser degree with wholesale trade.

Transormation into Public limited company

The company has transformed into a Public limited company with a full name Alpetour, Forwarding and transport, Plc, Škofja Loka in the year 1995. We are members of: FIATA, UIRR and IRU. Since we also started dealing with intervention of air transoirtation in 1996, we will also become a member of International Air Transport Association IATA and subsequently also members of The Federation of National Associations of Ship Brokers and Agents FONASBA.

Members of the group Viator&Vektor PLC

In the year 2001 the majority proportion of shares were bought by a company from Ljubljana, Viator&Vektor d.d. Ljubljana. We are members of the group Viator&Vektor ever since, however, we are continuing with our business under our own name as a legal entity.

Acquisition of a company Avtomehanika PLC

At the end of the year 2002 the company Alpetour, forwarding and transport, PLC joined the company Avtomehanika PLC, Škofja Loka by which she expanded their activities also to servicing of roadvehicles, servicing of tachographs, car wash services, pneumo center as well as roadworthiness tests of motor and trailer vehicles.

Our new logistic distribution center

We built a logistic distribution center in the year 2008 with capabilities of 8400 m2 of logistic warehouse space which ranks us among the biggest logistic distribution centers in Slovenia. This acquisition has helped us gain additional premises, which have improved the quality and the scope of service we keep providing.
